Onis Sampson wins Mcpherson Essay Writing Competition!

Organisers and judges of the MCPHERSON ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION (2013 Maiden Edition) have announced the best winning essay.

Onis Sampson successfully participated in the competition and emerged  the GOLD PRIZE, 1ST place winner of the competition. 

Participants wrote on the topic "A Portrait -- The Successful, Happy and Fulfilled me." Mr. Onis Sampson, one of the participants emerged the Gold Prize Winner. The results were announced at No. 12 Harold Wilson Drive, Borikiri in Foursquare Gospel Church, Town Zonal Headquarter on Sunday the 18th August, 2013. Mr Onis was unavoidably absent to receive the award due to Sunday Service which he attended at his own local church in Mgbuoba. Nonetheless he has received the award, gift items and prize money.

The Competition comes under the aegis of the McPherson University, being the Foursquare owned tertiary institution in Nigeria. This happens to be the first edition of the competition. Entries were called for from various parts of Port-Harcourt which was the geographical spread where publicity covered predominantly and which is specifically the launch pad for said Competition. 

The Competition has come to stay, hence will be an annual event. Subsequent editions will involve mass publicity. The Competition is open for youths, teenagers, students and the general public across Nigeria.

The youth fellowship of Foursquare Gospel Church, Mgbuoba heartily celebrate with Onis over the winning of this prestigious award. Congratulations, Onis!

Yes, today is the D-day. The much awaited, much anticipated, much publicised quiz is here. No, don't think I'm a kindergarten kid o! This is just a fluid and informal writing technique/style to get this very important information out. No too much talking; no attempt at ambiguity nor circumlocution -- just plain and straightforward talk that hits you softly in the mind. So let's do justice to the heading of this piece.

Singles and Married(SnM) Event to hold on Third Saturday in June

Great news! I'm glad SINGLES AND MARRIED event, a quarterly programme of the Foursquare Youth Fellowship, Mgbuoba Zone will be holding on Saturday, the 15th of June, 2013.  The event is to run concurrently with COUPLES DINNER. COUPLES DINNER is a programme organized by the Council of Foursquare Men, Mgbuoba Zone where husbands and wives come to dine and discuss issues of critical marital importance.

 Aren't you excited about this? Of course, I see a glimmering smile across the contours of your face and that tells me you're highly exhilarated over this. Most certainly there will be item 7, you know na. I'm referring to buffet -- that kind of thing! lol!

Sometime ago, I was at a roadside bole stand ( or how do we spell bole now-- lol! ) haggling price with the bole woman when another customer, a woman, came. She had an electric presence about her: I mean her enthusiasm was quite obvious. Talking and chattering from one topic to another. Then, after a while she said something that really got me eavesdropping the rest of her conversation with the bole woman.

She was narrating -- abi gisting (lol!)-- about how she disgraced a young girl who dared to 'steal' her husband from her.

                    " . . .I just enter the supermarket,
                      na so I come drag
                     the bag wey she been dey hol' then I come
                     hit am put for groun' . . . ,"  she kept ranting.

What was this all about? Now listen let me tell you, friends. Can we have a deal? Or, let me make an invitation to treat (legal term that means making a kind of offer to the whole world or anybody who is interested in what you are telling or saying. In real legal parlance we don’t see it as an offer. Alright, let’s not turn this into a lecture hall) – the rest of the story will be told at the next SINGLES AND MARRIED event in Foursquare Gospel Church, Mgbuoba. However, I won’t  let you grope in a dark suspense about what triggered the woman’s statement. This is it: you see, she got a tip from one of her aproko friends. The aproko friend told this woman that she saw the woman’s husband in the company of a gold digger chic somewhere in a supermarket. And then one thing led to another, you know. So once again, this is my invitation: come to SINGLES AND MARRIED event and get the full gist. This isn’t the only thing happening at the event, friends! So much more.

There will be a guest couple in the house who will talk to us. They will talk to us about how they met, about their courtship, about family and domestic issues, about controversial marital issues and lots of things. Did I hear you say I’m whetting your appetite? Is it Possible to be Peaceable?

We have to first look critically at the word peaceable which is " inclined to avoid argument or violent conflict, peaceful, not contentious,not quarrelsome, quietly behaved, disposed to promoting peace or calm, freedom from strife or disorder".
In this world of ours, you'll agree with me that no two persons are the same.God made it so and as such we vary in our thoughts, actions, decisions, beliefs and way of life generally. To be peaceable is actually possible but very difficult because of our variations.
Looking at the account and history of our Lord Jesus when he was on earth, he lived peaceably and the holy scriptures makes us understand that greater things shall we do.
In conclusion, conflict causes death, poverty and disease. Stop conflict and save live, peace is possible, YOU CAN BE PEACEABLE.

Departure Point: This will be made known to you in the bulk sms that will be sent this week. Time for departure will also be included.

For Choristers: Persons enlisted in the District Youth Choir shall be sent text messages this week on uniform and other logistics.
By way of reminder: On Thursday, the uniform is a black trouser or skirt accompanied with a longsleeve top of any colour. Top must be corporate wear. On Friday, the uniform is a white top and black trouser or skirt. Corporate outfit.

Quiz: Quiz representative of Mgbuoba Zone should be given maximum support by all Mgbuoba youths.

Football: All Mgbuoba brothers to wear a plain white T-shirt and blue shorts as jersey, and a pair of boots.
