Is it Possible to be Peaceable?

By Stanley Oparah

We have to first look critically at the word peaceable which is " inclined to avoid argument or violent conflict, peaceful, not contentious,not quarrelsome, quietly behaved, disposed to promoting peace or calm, freedom from strife or disorder".
In this world of ours, you'll agree with me that no two persons are the same.God made it so and as such we vary in our thoughts, actions, decisions, beliefs and way of life generally. To be peaceable is actually possible but very difficult because of our variations.
Looking at the account and history of our Lord Jesus when he was on earth, he lived peaceably and the holy scriptures makes us understand that greater things shall we do.
In conclusion, conflict causes death, poverty and disease. Stop conflict and save live, peace is possible, YOU CAN BE PEACEABLE.

Our D.Y.C 2012 ( a poem).

( Dedicated to all Port-Harcourt District Youths)

Like a towering vessel aloft the Atlantic
Comes our rejuvenated DYC
Glowing like the Eastern sun over PH metropolis.

Roundabout me, the December trees sashay gallantly
And cymbals issue the sanctity of vessels
Accompanied with a diminished ninth on the piano.

Melodies emerge like cascades ofspring water.
Surely a new dawn is here;
A dispensation rooted in the divine vine spoken of in our testament.

I have prayed for this rising. You and I have on bended knees
Called on the father's ambience
To grace this conference,

This gathering of strengths, of surge of
Primal veins, of the Cross
Where oil graciously springs forth.

A SMALL GROUP AND THE YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

 By Onis Sampson

When you get to look at it critically, you'll discover that there's hardly much difference between a small group and a meeting. A small group of 7 or 8 or 9 persons in attendance will have certain features also found in a typical or quintessential meeting. Our youth meetings in Foursquare Gospel Church, Mgbuoba, for instance bears same features as any typical group meeting we may organize. However, we've not done too good in the area of small group. We have downplayed it to some extent, not for lack of understanding of its importance but for reasons of finding ready individuals to lead regularly in those capacities.
Leadership has its peculiar challenges. Discussing with a youth president of a Foursquare church from Oyigbo Zone, he confirmed some of the challenges I faced. I have also discussed with other christian youth leaders on same issue. I have come to realise a major cause of this is the absense of linkages, or a cordial and harmonious relationship amongst these young persons. A basic remedy to this is the small group. In my own opinion, the small group must have a leader (different from the youth president), have an interesting discussion topic and be made up of between four(4) to twelve(12) persons.

Certain things must be done collectively by this group such as:
* Sharing of experiences
* Praying together
* Visiting one another.

A small group should not be de-emphasized in any youth fellowship.

IT'S NOT THE LOAD THAT BREAKS YOU DOWN.

By Wilson Sokari

Ever wondered why different people go through the same challenge, with some coming out better while the others come out bitter? "The load does not break you but the way you carry it". As you go through life, learn to consciously work out your victory. Even the bible says "work out your salvation with fear and trembling".
